Africa health holdings, a startup healthcare company has raised $18 million in Series A funding which is tailored towards raising a technology onward healthcare system in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria.
The funding which was co-led by Asia Pacific Land and Natural World Limited included other notable investors like TRB Advisors, Breyer Capital, M3, Inc., Valiant Capital, Kepple Ventures, and SUNU Capital.
The company intends to use the fund to expand telemedicine services across Africa in countries such as Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria, following their plan to build a high-quality, effective, and sustainable healthcare system in Africa.
Africa Health Holdings is situated in West Africa and operates in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria.
Sangu Delle, the company’s CEO, and chairman started the company in 2017.
Delle founded the company intending to reduce the unnecessary burden of global sickness in Africa.
“Africa Health Holdings will expand by bringing its telemedicine technology to multiple countries. Currently, the telemedicine service is only in Ghana, but soon, it will be expanding to Kenya and Nigeria,” said the firm’s chairman and CEO, Sangu Delle.
Delle, a former CEO of Golden Palm Investments, an investment company interested in early-stage opportunities in Africa, is a graduate of Harvard University and Oxford University who holds a position as a young leader in the World Economic Forum.
About 200,000 patients consult Africa Health Holdings annually for treatment and referrals. Following the onset of COVID 19 with its demand for alternative medicine and virtual consultations, Africa Health Holdings has determined to explore and accelerate telemedicine in South, East, and Northern Africa. This contributes to their goal of becoming Africa’s largest healthcare provider.
“Always thinking about what is coming next and how to get quality healthcare to more people, Africa Health Holdings has begun investing in micro-tech-enabled clinics with virtual doctors’ offices that are filled with diagnostic technologies, and nursing support, specifically for people from lower socioeconomic classes,” said Delle.
Africa Health Holdings operates with three brands situated in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria. The Meridian Health Group with 16 hospitals, a drug, and alcohol recovery center. The brand in Ghana known as Rabito Clinic Limited owns 21 dermatology and general medical facilities, and the Care Point Hospitals Limited in Nigeria runs a clinic and two hospitals.
“Individuals are able to enter micro-tech-enabled clinics, meet with doctors virtually, consult with nurses, and receive treatment and/or referrals for additional care at a reduced cost,” said Delle the company’s CEO and chairman.
The company also runs laboratories in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria.
